Using track and clip automation

Changes to the entire track are created with track automation, and changes to specific clips are created with clip envelopes.

Prerequisites
  • Audio clip added to timeline

Draw Track Automation

Press the A button on the track to switch between volume, PAN, and hide. Double-click the automation line to add points and drag to change time and value.

    Select mode

    Press the A button to display Volume or Pan.

  2. 2

    Add points

    Double-click the desired time and value for the automation line.

  3. 3

    change control

    Drag a point or a line between points.

  4. 4

    reset

    Right-click the A button to reset volume, PAN, or full automation.

Editing clip envelopes

Right-click the audio clip and select Clip Volume Envelope or Clip PAN Envelope. Double-click the line to add a point, drag or right-click to move or delete it, and then select Complete Automation Editing.

Select a range between tracks and clips

Use track automation for changes that span multiple clips, and clip envelopes for changes that only need to occur within one clip.
